Getting w.Bloggar to work with Blogger Beta
Getting w.Bloggar to work with Blogger Beta
I signed up for Blogger Beta. Only to find out that none of my posting software works. I earlier used to use w.Bloggar, and had been using Windows Live Writer for the last few days. I downloaded w.Bloggar’s latest version and tried setting it up with my new Blogger Beta blog. Behold the Beta Gods. It said my username/password didn’t match. I realised it was not connecting to the beta interface, but rather to the old Blogger interface. And the old Blogger interface cannot login a Google Accounts username/password.
Being a lazy person, I searched the net first to see if someone else had come up with a solution. My search yielded no results. So I tried to play with the w.Bloggar account settings. Luckily, I got it right in the first attempt. Anyways, I decided to share this info with you all. So here is a step by step with screenshots (click on them to enlarge).
Getting w.Bloggar to work with Blogger Beta :
Requirements :
- A Blogger Beta blog
- w.Bloggar
- Internet connection
Instructions :
Step 1 : Fire up the account selection box in w.Bloggar. You can reach it by Clicking on File, Select Account or by pressing F9

Step 2 : Click on the Icon next to the account name.

Step 3 : Select New

Step 4 : Select “Yes, I want to add it as a new account“

Step 5 : Select Custom from the drop down list and fill in a name for you account. Select Ping if you would like to notify Weblogs or Technorati upon updates. Click Next.

Step 6 : Keep the settings as is. Click Next.

Step 7 : In the Host field type in “beta.blogger.com“. (Without the quotes, of course!)

Step 8 : In the Path field type in “/api“. (Without the quotes, of course!). Click “Next“

Step 9 : Type in your Google Accounts username/email and your password. Select “Save password” if you would like w.bloggar to remember your password.

Step 10 : Click Finish. You are done.
Do send your comments and feedbacks.
Thanks a lot Samishra! I moved from Blogger to Beta Blogger and I was thinking about to adequate Bloggar to the new situation, till I found your place with the teaching. Onec more time, tahnks.
JRod
@JRod: You are welcome. You caould also try Windows Live Writer. The new version supports Blogger Beta.
The instructions were nicely done, and I followed them to the letter. Then created a post and selected “publish”…and received an acknowledgement that the post was published…however, it doesn’t show up in my blog…on my host, or on blogger. Oh well…
@Richard : Did you check whether it got saved as draft?
Or is it that you are publishing to your own server?
I didn’t save it as a draft…I elected to just publish it. It is hosted on my own server, (actually Earthlink…who maintains my server: bizmarts.com)
I checked again today…and worst yet: I can’t enter a post into the blogger.beta editor now…actually, I can enter it; but it will not publish.
Boo hoo…
-rwp-
@Richard : Blogger Beta is still going thru a lot of updates. Hope they sort out all these issues soon.
It works. But if you haven’t activated your e-mail, then it will not work.
@gautam : Thank you Gautam for letting us know. I am sure someone will find it handy.
thanks for this tuto man
@Facundo : glad u like it.
Hi, the title field is not getting set properly. can you please help.
hey thanks a lot
ive been searching for a solution to this problem !!
thanks for da solution
regards,
sree
@umesh : yeah. you have to set the title field manually
@mr. strager : Glad it helped you.
Thanks so much for this! I was frustrated without finding a solution until now.
How do you create labels for blogger beta using w.bloggar? thanks much!
@Liana : Glad to have been of help
@peebrain : Currently you will have to add labels manually by editing the post and adding labels.
w.bloggar does not currently support Blogger Beta. What I have provided is just a workaround. I would recommend Windows Live Writer Beta. Though even Windows Live Writer Beta doesn’t support labels and image uploading. But still it is currently far more better option than w.bloggar.
Thanks alot for your help, it worked
@nermos: You are welcome.
Thanks my Man!! You are great..
@Eriec T: You are welcome. Glad it worked for you.
Thanks so much!!! Really appreciate the help. And I love so many other things about w.bloggar, I’ll just upload and add labels afterwards.
@Teresa: If w.Bloggar starts supporting Blogger Beta, then it would be a really great product. And the workaround proves, that it is not so difficult to do so.
Once more, thanks a lot Samishra. I tried Windows Live Writer and, luckly, it accepts the title and much more. Merry Christmas!
@JRod: You are welcome once again.
And Merry Christmas to you too!
I have configured w.bloggar following your instruction. But, my post title did not appear. Does your post title appear everytime you post to your beta blogger blog using w.bloggar?
very useful post
Well, OK! This looks great, Gary!
I am very new to blogs, having used them just a couple of times with students who were already accustomed to writing in them.
But I am excited at the possibility that this medium could help us share lessons, ideas, and materials after MyGateway goes down.
Let’s hear from others.
Jane
@Arif: Yeah, titles are still a problem yet to be solved. Give Windows Live Writer Beta a try.
@lifehacker: Thanks, I am glad you found this post useful.
@blogger : Umm?
Thank you so much! I was almost starting to panic. I have used w.bloggar for years now and I wasn’t ready to give it up. Thank you again.
Samishra, many thanks for posting this workaround, which allows me to migrate my old blogging accounts to the new Blogger without having to give up w.bloggar. As the new Blogger is out of beta, I changed the URL from beta.blogger.com to www2.blogger.com and it works fine, although titles don’t seem to be working correctly. If I find out how to fix that I’ll post again. Thanks again for posting this workaround.
@Dan : Glad to have been of help.
@Nick : Thanks for the update.
And a very very Happy New Year to you all.
The title will work fine in w.bloggar if you change them from and to and
You will need to do this in the Account Properties dialog on the file menu – Click the Custom Tab.
blah I’ll try again.
The title should be
and
instead of [title] and [/title] (change the square brackets to pointy brackets)
@The Puppeteer : the H2 tags just make the text look like the title. It doesn’t set the title. The title still remains blank.
You did a wonderful service creating this tutorial – thanks!
@Chris: I am glad you liked it.
You have no idea how much of a life saver you are! I nearly pulled my hair out trying to figure out how to get it to work, but following your instructions worked a treat. Thank you a bunch!

@FNT : Glad to have been of help.
Thanks a lot!
@shafarina : You are welcome. Glad to have been of help.
I have switched to blogger beta and was trying the work around trick… when the application is trying out to connect to blogger server the latter reply is that the combinaison username and password is invalid…. which is not true bcause that is the one I use to log on into my blogger account… this also happens with blogjet V2 which I use from time to time!!! anyone has a clue of what is going on?????
Thanks a million!
Excellent … Thank you so much for figuring this out. I was wondering about this ever since I moved BOTDA to the Beta a few months ago.
Thank you,
Many many many thanks for this.
Wuut! It works! Thank you!
Thankyou soooo much!
Thanks for the write up. It has took me 2 weeks to get it to work – during which time I have NOT blogged without wbloggar.
Can I point out (and something I missed) the above process does work BUT only once you have got your google account verification email by going to http://www.google.com home page and then signing in. (God I feel thick now). You will get a message advising you need to verifiy your account using a email! The above process will then work!
AEEWSOMEAWE!!
Thanks so much!
OMG… it works!!! Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for the help! Just moved, and had to fix w.bloggar. You’re #1 on google!
@Gonzague : Did you try the tip mentioned a few comments later by Nackuk? Give it a try and see if it worls for you.
@jewea, BOTDA, Andrew, william, Travelnearn, Souljah, lyn, Andy : You all are most welcome, friends!
@Nackuk : Thanks a lot for the tip buddy.
Worked!!! thanks!
@Noam : Glad it worked for you. You are welcome!
Same settings (beta.blogspot.com) should be applied even now, when blogspot officially switched to google accounts.
Has anyone solved the Title problem?
The title does not get listed into the title field in the post. It just shows up as a portion of the post with a tag of
and beta blogger does not recognize that.
I was thrilled to find your fix for wBloggar. The titles still do not work. Does anyone know if wBloggar will be changed for the new blogger.com interface, or if blogger.com intends to fix this themselves? After all, they have broken nearly all the blogging tools by not being backward-compatible.
thanks for the fix =) its really helpfull!
A user friendly blog, where do you get your info? Amazing!
@LarryG : Nope the title issue is still unresolved. Hopefully, Marcelo and his developers would work out some solution and release a new build of wBloggar soon.
@meg : You are welcome, dear.
@ebay books : Certainly not from your site. LOL!!!
Does Marcello ever respond to e-mails?

Thanks a lot for the information. I had troubles activating w.bloggar with new google Blogger engine.
Now it works perfectly !
Thanks a TON!!!
Thanks a bunch.
I was totally about to give up on w.bloggar altogether because of this problem.
cheers a lot
.
Thanks a lot !! That helped.
Sir, you are a hero of biblical proportions. The entire blogging community should erect a statue in your honor.
Works. Thanks a lot.
I found what I was looking for, easy to read, gave me some great ideas
When I tried this it worked EXCEPT the title field just doesn’t work. The post just gets no title.
Any ideas on how this might be fixed–or if it even CAN be fixed?
Hi,
I can post from w.bloggar to my blogger.com blog, the only issue is that the posts get stored in DRAFT MODE maybe because the title is not getting correctly recognized.
I read all around that it’s using the Blogger API which has no parameter for the title. Somewhere else I read Blogger Beta is using the Google API/ ATOM 1.0 API. Somewhere else I get to know it’s using GDATA API. Now this is getting real confusing. The blogger.com’s help suggests that for now, we should send the post to the service.post url of the blog… Now which is that post url?
The result is, if I’m posting to my blogspot blog, the posts get stored there, but in draft mode, with title and body text mixed and stored in the BODY of the post, and when I edit it, I see that the whole text is stored in the body of the post. It clearly means we need to use the right TITLE distinction tag in the w.blogger’s ACCOUNT SETTINGS>CUSTOM TAB…
please help…. WHICH IS THAT TAG?
is not working!
Can’t google inform the world which is that tag! Silly isn’t it… Millions of users are using your service and you immediately change the way you enter the bus without letting everyone know that the entrance will be from the other side from now!
Wow! I sometimes don’t understand what those high salaried employees do sitting at the top positions running big corporations.
>It clearly means we need to use the right TITLE distinction tag in the w.blogger’s ACCOUNT SETTINGS>CUSTOM TAB
I think it might be a little more complicated than that, in that it’s not just title tags in the new API but rather the next level higher tags as well.
So the XML that w.bloggar sends needs to be completely restructured–more than just adding different tags immediately around the title.
Could be wrong, though (please, somebody go ahead & prove me wrong–PLEASE!). But that is my impression in looking through the documentation (that I can find).
BTW the thing that bugs me is the blogger/google forced us to upgrade with the promise that “everything is OK now, all the bugs are worked out”.
Well, anybody with any sense KNEW that would not be true.
In my case particularly there were two (related) changes that have caused loads of grief–1. the change in format of the RSS feeds, which messed up the whole system I had set up to automatically read & parse my blogs’ RSS feeds and do various things with them.
2. The change in API which made w.bloggar malfunction.
Those are both HUGE changes–many hours spent messing with both ends and neither is completely fixed yet.
Dear Samirsha? How to make the title works for the settings you offer?
I read comments from some commentator here reporting that post title did not appear to their post. I experience the same case. But, you stil did not stress whether the title work or not.
Gracias Amigo
Hace tiempo me habia cambiado a Beta y no sabia como hacer para usar el programa
